New Vision Advocates
New Vision Advocates Mission
The members of The New Vision Advocates (NVA) work together and support each other to build a voice and presence in the community for people who have developmental/intellectual disabilities.
Members are very active in giving presentations and sharing their messages on the importance of acceptance and belonging, the power of words and labels, their thoughts on what respectful supports are just to name a few.
The New Vision Advocates address advocacy issues at the Municipal, Provincial and Federal levels of government.
Networking is a big part of advocacy, members of NVA connect and network with advocacy groups from across Ontario and Canada. They have made connections with other self-advocates in Australia and Scotland.
They are members of the Speaking Out planning committee which plans and hosts the annual Speaking Out conference as well as the members of NVA facilitate the Staying Connected Network with people with developmental disabilities from across Canada.
